Here's what’s open in McLaren Vale and Fleurieu Coast today. A great way to support local.
Overview
Experience the Sellicks Beach Historic Motorcycle Race rumble in this historical, family-friendly event, set on the sandy beaches of Sellicks Beach, Aldinga.
The Levis Motorcycle Club has been part of motorcycling in South Australia since 1922and is one of the oldest in Australia. The Levis Social Club, as it was known then, organised speed meetings at Sellicks Beach which became a regular summer highlight until 1953. The course was a 1 mile (1.6km) stretch of beach between Silver Sands and Sellicks Beach with a 180 degree turn at each end to a set race distance.
In 2017, the Sellicks Beach Historic Motorcycle Race was reborn. Run biennially by volunteers. It is a family-friendly, fully inclusive event with riders racing only pre-1963 solos and sidecars, with regulation smooth tyres, the original distance.
The event is in picnic format, and all riders and spectators are welcome. Fully catered with a free shuttle bus from the car park.
Situated on the Fleurieu, the cliffs, white sandy beach and blue waters of Silver Sands and Sellicks Beach are highlighted during this unique race. Sellicks Beach Historic Motorcycle Races are very focused on being mindful of the environment, minimising disruption to the local people each evening and returning the beach to its natural state at the event end.
