Here's what’s open in McLaren Vale and Fleurieu Coast today. A great way to support local.
Overview
Red Poles art gallery features new exhibitions every few months and has a focus on Aboriginal art as well as many South Australian artists from the Fleurieu region and beyond. All art mediums are represented so there is something for everyone to appreciate from paintings, etchings, linocuts, jewellery, photography, ceramics and textiles. Workshops are available for adults and children and there is a school holiday program at the end of every term.
Red Poles is a multi award winning business established in 2005. Much more than a destination, Red Poles has evolved over 18 years into a café/restaurant, art gallery, B&B accommodation, a venue for art workshops and a focus for live music every Sunday afternoon. Over the years the venue has been a space for cabaret and film, a cellar door for various businesses. It is a popular venue for weddings, private functions, groups celebrating birthdays and anniversaries and families. Whether it is a special lunch for two, a gathering of a 100 people, a mothers playgroup, or somewhere to bring your dog, enjoy a coffee and relax and listen to the abundant chatter of the birds – everyone is welcome! The venue is situated amongst lawns and gardens with surrounding vineyards and natural bushland. During the winter months our outdoor fire pit is a popular spot and the verandahs have both heating and cooling so suitable all year round! There is even a large outdoor deck with a cocktail bar!
Having recently moved to the Fleurieu Peninsula, the current head chef Travis Jeremiah began his career in Darwin and has over thirty years of experience in the hospitality industry, previously working in restaurants, silver service and wedding catering. Travis’ upbringing in Darwin has heavily influenced his passion for blending Asian Pacific cuisine with native bush foods, and he brings a new perspective to the Red Poles kitchen to combine locally sourced produce with traditional flavours and techniques for a relaxed dining experience.
The B&B accommodation has 3 rooms around a central courtyard and is the perfect spot overlooking gardens, vineyards and natural bushland for an overnight visit or a short stay. Each room has a king and a single and there is a fold up bed so a family of 4 could be accommodated in one room. There is an on site barbecue and outdoor table area. Guests are welcome to enjoy our verandah space at night and there is ideal lawn space for children to run around. During winter guests can enjoy the outdoor fire pit – enjoying a glass of good McLaren Vale red or toast a few marshmallows! We are also pet friendly so your four footed friend is most welcome.
